An AARP study released in April 2019 confirms that caregivers are taking on increased responsibilities caring for loved ones.

AARP recently released the findings from Home Alone Revisited, a follow up to its original study regarding the burdens affecting caregivers conducted in 2012. The new study shows that more caregivers are assuming responsibility for particularly demanding procedures once considered the exclusive responsibility of medical professionals, such as managing incontinence, pain and administration of medication. The reasons for this shift are three-fold: growing aging population, soaring healthcare costs, and shortened hospital stays.
